1. General
Q. What exactly is Tribal CTF?
A. On our large website
you can find out everything there's to know about the game. First time players
should read through the game play rules on the various CTF types and read
through the Heads Up
Display guide. Tribal CTF features new Huds which can be a bit daunting
to first time players. The explanatory guide on our website is there to help you
on your way.
If you might have
any questions left unanswered after reading our website's informative resources
you can always put up a query at our online Forums. You'll have
to register as a new user if posting for the first time but it's worth the
trouble! You'll have access to all the latest gossip and happenings around
Tribal CTF and you can even chat with the team behind the game.
2. Technical
Q. What kind of system do I need to play
Tribal CTF?
A. Tribal CTF is a mod with a high level of graphical detail intended for
high-end machines. Our aim is to have Tribal CTF last for a long time and so it
looks nice even with the upcoming new generation computer games.
Q. Average System Specs:
A. Any PC that is capable of running Quake III Arena at high detail can
run Tribal CTF. It might be necessary to set detail to medium to get the same
performance as Quake III Arena. We advise 128 MB of RAM or more for optimal
performance. A p2 400 with 128MB and a TNT card can run it smooth on medium settings. If your processor is lowend then the best thing is to put geometricdetail to it's lowest. Things will still look good and play a lot faster.
Make sure your
system will be fine to run Tribal CTF before starting the 65MB download. We
don't want to people to find out they can't really play Tribal CTF after a
waiting on an X-hour-download.
Q. How much Hard Disk space do I need?
A. Tribal CTF needs 125 MB of hard disk space.
3. Game Play
Q. I can't add bots, what's wrong?
A. Version 2.0 does not yet support bots so you can't add any. We are still
working on bot-support for Tribal CTF to be included
in future releases.
Q. What are the rules for the new Gametypes?
A. Check out the online
manual to find out everything you need to know about the Tribal CTF game.
Q. How do the new HUDs
work?
A. Check out the online
manual to find out everything you need to know about the Tribal CTF game.
4. Troubleshoot
Q. Tribal CTF doesn't load when I click
the desktop icon.
A. Make sure you have installed Tribal CTF in the correct directory. Tribal
CTF should be installed in your Quake III Arena directory otherwise it won't
run. When installing the installer asks you to point it to your Quake III Arena directory locate it and press
'OK'. Don't manually create any folders; the installer does this for you.

Q. Tribal CTF won't load and prompts and
error at startup.
A. Custom config (.cfg)
files occasionally cause problems of various sorts. We strongly recommend you
use the default cfg file that's created after
installing Tribal CTF. This config file contains some
specific settings used by Tribal CTF which a custom config
file may not have.

Q. Server locks up (connection
interrupted) after an Elemental player is shot.
A. Server admins who use custom made config files should make sure they have set:
seta vm_cgame
"1"
seta vm_game
"1"
If this is set to
"0" a server locks up after an Elemental player gets shot with an instant-hit
weapon. A set of default server config files is
included in the 2.0 release. We advise server admins
to use these as a base for their own config files.

Q. I can't copy-paste IP addresses in the
Specify box.
A. The scripted-Team Arena user interface doesn't allow us to include
copy-pasting. While the regular Q3A user interface does support copy-pasting
the new Team Arena user interface doesn't. Have a pen and paper ready to put
down an IP address and add them to your favourites if
you visit them often.
Q. My colored name doesn't work in Tribal
CTF.
A. Tribal CTF uses automated name colors depending on which tribe you're
playing in. If you join the Cyborg tribe your name gets automatically colored
red. Custom colored names will not work with Tribal CTF and they are
automatically overridden.
Q. My colored rail trail doesn't work in
Tribal CTF.
A. Tribal CTF uses automated rail trail colors depending on which tribe
you're playing in. If you join the Cyborg tribe your rail trail gets
automatically colored red. Custom colored trails will not work with Tribal CTF
and they are automatically overridden.
Q. My custom player model doesn't work in
Tribal CTF.
A. Tribal CTF uses automated player model selection depending on which
tribe you're playing. If you join the Cyborg tribe you automatically will get the
Keel model assigned.
Q. I can't log onto a server. I keep
getting kicked back.
A. Most Tribal CTF servers are 'pure' servers. If you happen to have any
custom files in your Tribal CTF directory other than the originally installed
files you might encounter problems with login onto pure servers.
